The views of 220,000 final-year students were included in the fourth National Student Survey (NSS) published this month. It is the biggest survey of student opinion undertaken in this country.
The results are grouped below by institution, with the overall score based on the answers given by all participating full- and part-time students to questions 1-22 of the survey across all subjects. The score represents the percentage of the maximum possible mark if all students had been happy with every aspect of their higher education.
The institutional scores range from 90.2% for the private University of Buckingham to 62.2% for the University of the Arts London. Percentage scores for subjects in descending order of satisfaction are shown for each institution based on full-time students only (except Birkbeck College, London and The Open University). The most satisfied students are studying finance and accounting at the University of Exeter (96.2%); the least satisfied are social work students at Swansea University (44.9%).
Five Scottish universities — Abertay Dundee, Napier, Queen Margaret, The Robert Gordon and West of Scotland — do not participate at present in the NSS and are therefore not included below. Further details about the survey can be found at www.unistats.com
